Question

One thing that i don't understand in this book is how Pip and Estella are not really together. He has always talked about how beautiful she is and perfect, but then they don't get together. Why is this? It seems like she isn't into him as much as he is too her which may be a problem for them.Things like this happen in everyday life, but why not have it happen in the book?

  1. I think they aren't together because although Pip likes Estella, Estella doesn't like Pip back no matter how hard Pip tries or how much he likes her. I think she just can't get over the image of him when he was younger before he became a wealthy gentlemen.

  2. I think that the author wants there to be more to the story than just weather they get together or not. I think that there is a chance that at the end of the book they will, but at the moment the author is probably informing us of what each person is growing up to be and who they are inside. Also they might not be together yet because Estella is seeing that Pip is becoming successful and she wants to wait and see if he gets even more lucky with money.

  3. The only reason that Estella even acted interested in Pip in the first place was because Miss Havisham wanted her to break his heart. As the book went on and Pip grew older and into a gentleman, Estella slowly started to see that what she was doing was wrong. She tried warning Pip but he was so into her that he didn't even notice all the warning signs.
